Around a power that should never have existed, one scheme leads into another, falsehood hides behind sincerity, and turmoil sweeps across the land, with no regard for a Wulin already in decline.
I. Discordant Shard
Two Years Ago
- Zuo Shang
Tell me, Herald... where did you find that Discordant Shard?
- Zuo Shang
This shard was left behind by the Eleven. The Order fought them years ago, so we're quite familiar with it.
- Zuo Shang
A pity... the other shards vanished with the fall of the Eleven.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
This is the Lady's... Heh. Never mind. You don't need to know.
II. Sharing
- Zuo Shang
Hmm. I do have a few things in mind. It would be improper to keep them to myself.
- Zuo Shang
When the Order destroyed the Eleven, I recovered the scrolls Xuan Yu left behind, along with detailed instructions for creating the Radiant Heart.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
The Radiant Heart?
III. Radiant Heart
- Zuo Shang
It was an intricately crafted heart powered by a Discordant Shard.
- Zuo Shang
It can completely eliminate the madness of Transcension without diminishing its power.
- Zuo Shang
Years ago, Xuan Yu planned to replace the Transcension device within him with this heart.
- Zuo Shang
Unfortunately for him, he fell to my blade before he could finish it.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
This heart and the shard... its a perfect match.
IV. Vessel of the Radiant Heart
- Zuo Shang
Heh... since you possess the shard, and I can provide the knowledge and resources, could we complete the Radiant Heart together?
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
If the Radiant Heart can truly be made, then whoever bears it would be unmatched. Who do you intend to give it to?
- Zuo Shang
Suppose I could get you The Chord's vessel...
- Zuo Shang
You could craft a perfect puppet using her body... and place the Radiant Heart within it.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
That would be perfection itself.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
So... what do you want in return, Shadow Edict Zuo?
- Zuo Shang
If I should ever come into conflict with the Order and the Mandate, I ask only that you lend me your aid.
V. Mirrors and Ruins
- The High Elder
The ruins have been completely sealed. None can enter.
- The High Elder
Even the four Acolytes I sent to hunt down the traitors cannot enter on their own.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
I assumed they still relied on the ruins to cultivate and suppress their Sha-Chi.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Otherwise, if they keep hiding in that cramped space of the Discordance inside those scarecrows, they'll go mad sooner or later.
- The High Elder
All four must return to the ruins. Only then will it open. If even one is missing, the path remains closed.
- The High Elder
The barrier will only lift when the "mirror" at the entrance to the ruins reflects all four masks at once.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Your mastery is truly impressive, High Elder.
VI. Rift of Bones
- The High Elder
Behind the Lady stands something far beyond this world. We exist only by Her grace.
- The High Elder
Your clever scheme secured the Radiant Heart and the Perfect Yin Vessel. This is your greatest achievement.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
You flatter me, High Elder. Without you and the six Elder opening the Rift, how could the Lady pass between the Discordance and the Waking Realm?
- The High Elder
Soulrend Cliff overflows with Sha-Chi. It is the birthplace of the Eleven, and is near our cultivation grounds.
- The High Elder
We can open the Rift there, let the Lady enter the Perfect Yin Vessel, and return to the Waking Realm. What say you, Herald?
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
A fine choice. Years ago, heroes of the Wulin slaughtered one another upon these cliffs—blood ran like rivers, and even now, Sha-Chi lingers.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Once the Lady descends, She shall feast to Her heart's content. Hahahaha!
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
There's just one concern... your physical forms, and those of the other masters, must remain at the Heart of the Lake to preserve your undying state. How will you reach Soulrend Cliff to open the Rift?
- The High Elder
Would something so trivial trouble you, Herald?
- The High Elder
We are not bound by mortal limits. Our consciousness may pass freely between puppet and flesh.
- The High Elder
We shall transfer our consciousness into your puppets, and perform the ritual at Soulrend Cliff.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
I will speak plainly, High Elder. In truth, I already have a passage to Mount Soulrend—through the Mourning Hall I built for an old acquaintance.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
And it has been sealed with brick and stone to avoid prying eyes.
- The High Elder
Providence... pure providence.
- The High Elder
The location of the Heart of the Lake must never be revealed...

Is a name not also a mask? Take off the old one, put on a new one, change your identity, and become another person.
The true self stays hidden deep behind it—who knows whether, after enough time, one might even forget their original face.
I. Abnormality
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
It's just... Senior Brother Leng Tu feels different lately. He used to be far more cruel... always tormenting his victims before killing them.
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
But lately... he doesn't seem as ruthless. If anything, he seems almost... impatient...?
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
And don't you think? That little girl puppet he made... it feels even more unsettling now...
- Studious Thread-Binding Disciple
Isn’t that a good thing? It means his puppetry has made a new breakthrough!
- Studious Thread-Binding Disciple
Mm... then I must find a chance to learn from Senior Brother myself!
II. Gone Without a Trace
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
Brothers... have any of you seen Xiao-Yi?
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
Just yesterday, we were saying Senior Brother Leng Tu seemed off. He told us to stay alert... and now he's gone!
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
Wait. What about Senior Gui? Senior Brother Huyan? And that new disciple... uh... what was his name...
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
They either worked under Senior Brother Leng Tu, or were close to him... and somehow, one by one, they just vanished.
- Indifferent Thread-Binding Disciple
Have you lost your mind from training? You're always overthinking. Keep it up and you'll go mad!
- Uneasy Thread-Binding Disciple
I-I... what's happening...? Was I really wrong...?
- Mysterious Puppet
Heehee... big brother, why do you look so troubled?
III. the Herald's True Form...?
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Senior Brother, from what I've seen... the Herald's puppetry and Phantom Art are unmatched in this age...
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
And I heard... long ago... a master defected from the esoteric sect known as "Silk” and helped the Thread-Binding Sect rise to power.
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
His name was Leng Tu. He excelled in these very same forbidden arts...
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Could it be... that the legendary Leng Tu and the Herald are the same person?
- Worldly Thread-Binding Disciple
Oh? You're sharper than I thought. You even dug up an old secret like that...
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Hehe... these days, the Herald only ever appears through puppets. I can't help but wonder what he really looks like...
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Senior Brother, you still haven't answered me! Was I right or not?
- Worldly Thread-Binding Disciple
Hehe...The Herald hates prying eyes. If I told you the truth, death would be the least of our worries.
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
W-why are you trying to scare me? We're from the same sect... he wouldn't go that far, would he?
IV. the Herald's True Form!
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Perfect... now that the puppet girl's gone...
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
...This mask belongs to the Thread-Binding Sect... and this scroll on Phantom Art... it really is from the Silk Sect...
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Ah... yes! That's it! That has to be it!
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
The Herald is Lengtu! Lengtu is the Herald!
- New Thread-Binding Disciple
Hehehe... I see now! It all makes sense! Hahaha—
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Oh? Big brother... and what is it you think you understand?

Do not shed tears before them. Tears would expose helplessness, fuel their malice, and blur all that she had witnessed—blurring her last remaining hopes and expectations.
She forced her sore eyes wide to drive back the tears, pretending she had never felt fear, nor had she ever known sorrow.
I. Struggle
- Yu'er
So cold... my body... I can't move...
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
How troublesome... no matter how much Soul Displacement Powder I use, it only works on the untrained commoners... leaving me with crude puppets.
- Yu'er
Who... who is controlling... my body...?
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Heh heh... a fresh batch of new toys. Now then... what kind of puppets should I put you all in...?
- Yu'er
N-No! This isn't me! I don't want to hurt anyone!
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Heheh. Don't be afraid... it'll only hurt a little... soon, nothing will remain but the urge to kill...
- Yu'er
No...No! I'll remember, for them... all of them... and then...
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
But be careful of Master Soul... that traitor from the Order. He'll leave none of you alive...
- Yu'er
Soul...? Mister Soul...? Could he be...
II. the Radiant Heart Experiment
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
So... the names on this list are those who withstood the Soul Displacement Powder?
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
They don't seem all that special...
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Forget it. For the Village of Lu, proceed as usual. Turn them into capable puppets.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
As for those in Pangzhen... bring them to the Estate. Let them offer their final service to the refinement of the Radiant Heart.
- Yu'er
No... I can't let them do this...
- Yu'er
I have to tell him... I have to... no matter what...!
III. the Perfect Vessel
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Hehe... still struggling, little girl? You think I don't know what you're plotting?
- Yu'er
You... you knew...
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
The Radiant Heart is ready. Soon, it will merge with Number Seven... deep within the manor.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
The Perfect Vessel for the Lady's descent is nearly complete.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
And the one you're so certain will come, where is he now?
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
If you ask me... you'll never see him again.
- Yu'er
No, no... he'll come... I know he will...!
- Yu'er
I know you'll come... please, don't let him succeed!

Meng Hua's forms

Fought alongside
Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
梦差:冷荼
He took the name “Leng Tu,” dressed as “Leng Tu,” and in the end became “Leng Tu” in every way, even more cruel and deranged than the original.
At first, he only had to imitate Leng Tu’s words and manner. But every lie demanded another to cover it, and when the disguise could no longer hold, he had no choice but to silence everyone who knew the real Leng Tu. Lies and blood piled up. Cruelty became a habit, and the mask became his true face.
He used that cruelty to please the Lady of the Veil. The Lady he worships is cold-hearted and takes pleasure in watching the suffering of others. She has no use for anything that serves no purpose. If he cannot satisfy her, he has no value and could be cast aside at any moment.
He will never allow himself to become useless. The Viper of Seven Venoms once tasted that suffering all too well. In that lightless prison of illusion, all his talent, kindness, and loyalty were crushed into nothing. He could only cling to life through endless torment, entirely at the mercy of others.
He has become “Leng Tu” through and through. He spreads the Lady of the Veil’s false teachings and conducts Puppet experiments on countless Wulin practitioners and ordinary people. He savors their desperate struggles inside the Puppets, wanting them to suffer as the Viper of Seven Venoms once did. He even switched Still Poison and Silence Poison, using them to poison Lei Dang of the Order and reenact, in the name of “Leng Tu,” the very scheme that once destroyed the Viper of Seven Venoms.
For all his sins, so long as they serve the Lady of the Veil, he gives her everything he has.
Perhaps the Viper of Seven Venoms was destined to suffer that terrible fate. If not, who else could this believer crawling at the Lady of the Veil’s feet have become?

Meng Hua, The Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil
救苦救难梦华圣母娘娘
This is in fact the puppet vessel Meng Hua, formerly of the “Eleven,” uses to walk the Waking Realm. To create a vessel capable of fully bearing her consciousness and power, the Herald spent more than three hundred days and slaughtered countless villagers and Wulin masters. Its hair is made of red thread and adorned with ornate gold, every detail crafted to please the Lady of the Veil.
It remains unclear whether “Veiled blossom” is simply another name for Meng Hua, a deliberate attempt to conceal her identity, or a name chosen to keep the Lady’s true identity unspoken. What is known is that worship of the “Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil, who saves those in suffering” began only two or three years ago.
The Wulin has been in turmoil for years. Maskwalkers run rampant, while the Mandate is corrupt and weak, leaving ordinary people with no one to rely on. Their own struggles seem all the more powerless. And the more desperate the world becomes, the more precious Meng Hua’s charity appears.
The Lady of the Veil who appears in dreams is kind, compassionate, and beautiful. She offers comfort and guidance, and surely possesses boundless power to lead them out of this hopeless age. Those at the end of their road know how to cling to “grace” and “miracles.” For those who have yet to submit, one need only add fuel to the fire of their despair. Suffering itself will teach them to kneel. But faith was never the Lady of the Veil’s goal.
In her battle against Inanis long ago, her consciousness dissipated in the depths of the Discordance, only to be remade through the formless, shapeless Blight, whose sole instinct is to devour all things. She once sought to contend with the Blight. Yet two equally voracious beings cannot devour themselves, so how could either devour the other? Instead, they fused, perfectly compatible and mutually beneficial.
She longs to return to the Waking Realm and manipulate the countless lives within it, while the Blight’s instinct is to devour everything and turn all things into itself.
As for what awaits after her return, whether she slowly consumes the world and toys with its people, or unleashes a grand catastrophe that annihilates all things... she now lives as one with the Blight. What happens next is entirely up to her.
