Phantom Blade Zero Story

What S-GAME has told of Soul, the people around him and the sides they take.

Soul's 66 days

For years Soul served as the Order's most feared blade. Set up for his leader's murder and turned on by the people he fought beside, he faces his childhood blood brother in a final duel and ends it with a blade through his heart.

The Flesh Sculptor, a mysterious healer, revives him, and the price is fixed from the start: 66 days, not one more. One of the voices following his return puts it coldly: "It seems the Flesh Sculptor's tainted heart has restored his strength."

Those days play out in the Phantom World, a setting S-GAME calls kungfu punk, in which kung fu shares the world with steam machinery and modified bodies. Fighters from all over the Wulin have converged on the town of Pangzhen, and it has become "a deadly trap of rival factions, hidden malice, and deadly schemes".

Creative director Soulframe Liang reads Soul's search for his heart on two levels. One is the wounded heart itself, and whether 66 days are enough to find a cure. The deeper one is about choice: Soul spent years as the Order's weapon, never deciding whom to kill or spare, and with the time he has left he wants his decisions to be his own.

Eight endings

Side quests can steer the main story, though the game keeps no honor score; S-GAME said so to players on its official Discord in April 2026.

Soulframe Liang compares helping strangers to the butterfly effect, since in doing so "you might actually influence your own main quest, and your own story of love and vengeance."

S-GAME promises that choices "fracture your trajectory and reshape your fate", and has said the story has eight endings.

S-GAME's creative director traces him back to the trailer shown at The Game Awards 2025: "a great hero rescues a baby from a fire", and that baby "grows up to become the new hero, which is our protagonist".

The Order

The Order made Soul its blade: in the creative director's words he was "a pawn used by the 'Order' to wage war". Zuo Shang leads it now, and it no longer keeps its own rules. Its Shadow Wardens answer to it through the Mindseal, and Soul still heals with its standard-issue medicine, Healing Dew.
